Toughest Downhill in America

Red Bull's Crashed Ice is like Ski Cross mixed with football

If football has taught us anything, it's that violence makes everything better!

The crazy-sport inventors at Red Bull took that lesson to heart when creating Crashed Ice.

So what is it? Four skaters race down a custom and massive downhill chute perilously lined with jumps, obstacles and hairpin turns. And each competitor is expected to navigate these courses at speeds of up to 40 miles an hour. It's like ski cross, but with razor-sharp knife boots.

And, yes, there are collisions.

But don't worry, racers sport a combo of ice hockey and football gear, which makes them look like ice terminators from the year 3,000.

Sounds like fun, right?

Good news: You don't have to be a spectator. You and your buds can sign up for one of the five American qualifiers still remaining. The winners will make up team USA as they travel to the Netherlands, Sweden and the finale in Quebec, Canada.

Because if anyone knows violence, it's Canadians!
