March Madness Underdog Sports Bars
Best spots to watch New York's NCAA tournament sleepers

We watch Raging Bull twice a year, quote Yogi Berra incessantly, and our dads still haven't washed their Broadway Joe jerseys from Super Bowl II. Clearly, we hold a special place for underdogs. And now, with two NYC schools competing in March Madness, we give you the best places to root for our city's scrappy new dark horses. Because, as Berra said, "The game ain't over 'til it's over."
St. John's -- Sly Fox Inn
Sly Fox Inn opened its doors in Jamaica, Queens during the Koch administration, and has remained the go-to fan post for St. John's ever since. A truly old-school tan-brick watering hole, Sly Fox's popularity could have something to do with the timelessness of the Tap Room: a lodge-like wooden room affixed with flannel wallpaper and TVs that hark back to an age when Ron Artest was still representing.

Long Island University -- Parlour
LIU kicks off its first tourney bid in fifteen years against North Carolina, a team that couldn't even beat Duke twice this year. Never mind the 18-point spread, Blackbird fans like their odds for pulling off a first-round upset. Join a hungry mob of LIU alum on Tuesday night at the upscale gastro-steakhouse Parlour Midtown for a game-watch on giant plasmas. Long Islands will be served. The Tar Heels might get served too.

Like garlic knots and underwear, some things are better when they're fresh.
