NYC Bike Polo

A Facebook group brings a gentleman’s game to the streets of New York

Men socializing at their finest!

Polo may be the oldest sport in the world, but a little history won't stop New Yorkers from turning a polished and refined game into a balls-out competition on wheels.

Bike Polo, a rolling version of mounted polo (only bikes won’t buck you off or stop to get a taste of the field), can be played on grass or hard surfaces like basketball or tennis courts.

Taking the game to the streets is NYC Bike Polo, a group of cycling enthusiasts dedicated to their two-wheeler rides and the love of the game.

Organizing pickup matches consisting of three players per team, mallets like those used in croquet and goals made up of two orange cones, NYC Bike Polo has three main courts and arranges the majority of their games in true 21st century methods: on Facebook.

Wanna play? Slop some lube around your groin, hold tight to your handlebars and get ready to hit some balls!

Weekly games held at 2pm on Sundays at The Pit (b/w Chrystie & Broome Streets); Other pickup games posted here
