Adventure Race in New York
Urban Dare is like a 1-day Amazing Race
If reality TV teaches us anything (and it doesn't), it's that Amazing Race-style adventures are just plain awesome.
But for those of us who are employed, have faces for radio and are otherwise not debilitatingly hot messes — TV is not an option.
But Urban Dare is!
So how does it work? Teams of two work together to solve a set of 12 clues, find checkpoints and perform "dares" in a timed race.
Dares take the form of physical challenges like a wall climb, or mental tasks like riddle solving.
Teams can use their feet or public transportation to get from checkpoint to checkpoint.
The fastest team (with photo evidence of their daring deeds) wins!
If you happen to be a member of New York's winning team, you qualify for Super Dare — a three-day quest aboard a cruise ship and in Caribbean ports of call.
The winner of that contest reaps an impressive $5,000.
Sure it's not Amazing Race-style bucks, but five grand should buy a sweet adventure of your own.
