Obstacle Course in Brooklyn

Rugged Maniac brings a muddy race to Brooklyn

Rugged Maniac brings a muddy race to Brooklyn

There's a big difference between a maniac and a crazy person.

Crazy person: no idea what he's capable of; erratic; scares small children.

Maniac: no idea what he's capable of; erratic; scares small children; is awesome.

So come be a maniac — not a crazy person! — at the Rugged Maniac obstacle course at the Aviator Sports and Events Center in Brooklyn.

A respectable, but not overwhelming, 5K with 14 obstacles, the BK Maniac is like a Spartan Run-light or a dialed down Tough Mudder. By no means is it an obstacle course on easy mode, but expect to have more fun than debilitating injuries.

Runners will get some sweet swag: a T-shirt, recovery food at the finish, one free beer and a welling sense of self-satisfaction.

If watching pain and suffering are more up your obstacle alley than enduring it, buy a spectator ticket and hydrate at the beer station.

But why watch when you can have fun in the mud? That's just crazy.

Rugged Maniac; November 19; $78; Spectator tickets $10
