Polar Bear Club in NJ

Jump into the Polar Bear Plunge in Seaside Heights

Freeze your butt off for a good cause

Yes, we've all heard of the Coney Island Polar Bear Club.

And while it's definitely been hotter in recent years, we can't help but associate that aged institution with hairy 70-year olds who subsist on a diet of pierogies, vodka and the sweaty fear of tourists.

But the annual Seaside Heights Polar Bear Plunge features 5,000 younger, better coifed, less scary participants who are all willing to sacrifice normal body coloring and the feeling in their toes to support a good cause.

These bold and crazy plungers, ranging from the young-and-naive to the wise-but-still-wild, must raise $100 to jump in. Proceeds benefit the New Jersey Special Olympics.

If you really like your toes where they are (attached to your body), we suggest cheering (or diabolically laughing at) those braver than you from onshore.

And enjoy it all with nary a chest hair in site ... probably.

Feb 25; $25 Registration Fee, $100 Minimum to Plunge; Register
