The Wildlife Conservation Society Hosts Run for the Wild

I like turtles.

There are lots of great reasons to run: because it's good for you, because humans were born to do it and because there's a family of dingoes trying to eat your baby.

But the Wildlife Conservation Society might have the best reason we've ever seen. Its Run for the Wild 5K, non-competitive run/jog/stroll/leisurely crawl benefits lions and other wildlife.

But more importantly: Lions!

And the race is held in the Bronx Zoo!

While a race like this isn't really about winning; it will be timed. And the top finishers will qualify for prizes from sponsors.

Plus, participants receive free admission to the zoo, and can enjoy the wonders of the reptile, mouse and (our personal favorite) monkey houses after the race.

Because there are lots of great reasons to go to the zoo: it's educational, it's fun, or you want to see monkeys throw crap at each other.

Run for the Wild; Apr 28; Participants required to raise a minimum of $30; Register
